Scheduled to be in attendance is fellow Ann Arbor rockers Taproot, but due to some extenuating circumstances the entire band may not be in attendance, according to Lindsey Wilson, member of the Ypsilanti Jaycees and chairperson for the event.

The Jaycees, who are hosting the event, are a non-profit organization that does local community service projects. "We are a leadership training group through community service," says President Jane Carr. "Our primary goal is to train people to be better leaders." The Jaycees has been around since the 1930s and through this event they hope to generate more exposure for their organization.

Tickets for the Battle of the Bands are $7 in advance and $10 at the door. They are available at Cafe Luwak. The audience will have a chance to vote for their favorite group. Votes cost $1 and you can vote as many times as you would like, with all proceeds going to charity. The show will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at The Elbow Room in Ypsilanti.
